Oil Painting Workshop

DAY 1: Sunday 15 March, 2020 Port Fairy, Victoria
This morning tour members will depart Melbourne airport at 12.00 midday and transferred to the beautiful coastal town of Port Fairy. Port Fairy is a charming fishing village at the end of the Great Ocean Road. The last destination on Victoria’s famed Shipwreck Coast, Port Fairy boasts wide streets lined with nineteenth century cottages, great Norfolk pines and old stone churches. This evening the group will meet for welcome drinks and an included dinner.

DAY 2: Monday 16 March, 2020 Port Fairy, Victoria
Today Robyn will find some great subjects in Port Fairy, paint her first demonstration, and then assist workshop members individually.

DAY 3: Tuesday 17 March, 2020 Port Fairy, Victoria
Today we will travel to The Crags a short distance from Port Fairy. The Crags offers spectacular views of the rocky, calcarenite cliffs.

DAY 4: Wednesday 18 March, 2020 Port Fairy, Victoria
Robyn will find an excellent painting location along the Moyne River in Port Fairy. The Fisherman’s Wharf area along the river is lined with boats and fishing craft, and will provide wonderful painting subjects.

DAY 5: Thursday 19 March, 2020 Apollo Bay, Victoria
This morning we travel to the twelve apostles, created by constant erosion of the limestone cliffs of the mainland beginning 10–20 million years ago, the stormy Southern Ocean and blasting winds gradually eroded the softer limestone, forming caves in the cliffs. The caves eventually became arches when the collapsed rock stacks up to 45 metres high were left isolated from the shore. There will be time to photograph before we continue on our journey to Apollo Bay. This evening we will enjoy an included dinner.

DAY 6: Friday 20 March, 2020 Apollo Bay, Victoria
A full day of painting in Apollo Bay. Perfectly positioned on the world famous Great Ocean Road surrounded by Otway National Park State Forest and rolling acres of emerald green farmland Apollo Bay is idyllic in its location. This evening there will be an included dinner.

DAY 7: Saturday 21 March, 2020 Apollo Bay, Victoria
Today we travel to the Great Otway National Park, the southernmost point of the Great Ocean Road region. Witness some of Victoria’s most remote and beautiful rainforest, coastal scenery and mainland Australia’s oldest lighthouse. This evening there will be an included dinner.

DAY 8: Sunday 22 March, 2020 Apollo Bay, Victoria
Today we will travel to Lake Elizabeth for a full day of painting. Lake Elizabeth is hidden deep in the Otways and we will discover its inspiring beauty with heavily timbered flanks and calm waters punctuated by the trunks of trees, from when the valley was flooded more than 50 years ago to form this “perched lake”. This evening there will be an included dinner.

DAY 9: Monday 23 March, 2020 Torquay, Victoria
This morning we travel to Lorne a lovely seaside town, situated on the Great Ocean Road on Louttit Bay. With its jagged and winding coastline, and exquisite waters, Robyn will find some great subjects to paint. We then continue along the Great Ocean Road to Torquay.Torquay’s beaches range from long sandy calm waters to swells battering against majestic sandstone cliffs and is the home of surfing in Victoria.

DAY 10: Tuesday 24 March, 2020 Torquay, Victoria
Our painting session today will be in Barwon Heads a coastal township on the Bellarine Peninsula, near Geelong. Situated on the west bank of the mouth of the Barwon River below Lake Connewarre. Barwon Heads will offer many painting subjects from the shallow and sandy shoreline of the Barwon River to the windswept surf beaches which front Bass Strait along 13th Beach Road.

DAY 11: Wednesday 25 March, 2020 Torquay, Victoria
Aireys Inlet is a town of stunning natural beauty much like most of Great Ocean Road. Home of the famous Split Point Lighthouse the town is completely landlocked by the Great Otway National Park. Robyn will find some great subjects to paint. We will have a photo stop at Anglesea on our return journey to Torquay.

DAY 12: Thursday 26 March, 2020 Torquay, Victoria
This morning we will have our final painting session in Torquay. In the afternoon, there will be final critique session, followed by farewell drinks and dinner.

DAY 13: Friday 27 March, 2020 Departure
This morning we say farewell to Torquay as we travel to Melbourne airport for flights departing after 1.00p
