SUNDAY 15 MARCH – FRIDAY 27 MARCH 2020

DAY 1: Sunday 15 March, 2020 Sydney, NSW
Tour members will depart from Sydney domestic airport at 12.00 midday and taken on a short sightseeing tour of Sydney to see the top destinations like Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and Darling Harbour. We are then transferred to the workshop hotel in the late afternoon. Tonight we will enjoy an included welcome dinner.

DAY 2: Monday 16 March, 2020 Sydney, NSW
Today will be a full day of painting in the Rocks area of Sydney. The Rocks area is the traditional home of the Gadigal, and the place of first European settlement in Australia. You can see in the rock face that gave the area its name, the roughly laid cobblestone laneways, the solid wooden beams in the warehouses, and the crushed cockleshells that make up the mortar between huge, handcarved sandstone bricks.

DAY 3: Tuesday 17 March, 2020 Sydney, NSW
This morning we will discover the most beautiful harbour in the world on a sightseeing cruise that takes you leisurely into the most beautiful and fascinating coves of Sydney Harbour with commentary. There will be opportunities to photograph this wonderful scenery. The afternoon we will paint around the Sydney Harbour.

DAY 4: Wednesday 18 March, 2020 Sydney, NSW
A full day of painting in Sydney. Amanda will paint a demonstration and then provide each workshop member with individual attention throughout the day.

DAY 5: Thursday 19 March, 2020 Sydney, NSW
This morning we will visit The Art Gallery of New South Wales, which is the most important public gallery in Sydney and one of the largest in Australia. The Gallery’s first public exhibition opened in 1874. There will be a painting session in the afternoon.

DAY 6: Friday 20 March, 2020 Katoomba, NSW
This morning we will visit the Brett Whiteley Studio, which was the workplace and home of Australian artist, Brett Whiteley (1939–92). Brett Whiteley is represented in the collections of all of the large Australian galleries and was twice winner of the Archibald. We will then transfer to the Blue Mountains, part of an extensive mountainous area associated with the Great Dividing Range and one of 15 World Heritage places included in the National Heritage List. We will be staying in Katoomba, known for its gorgeous Art Deco architecture.

DAY 7: Saturday 21 March, 2020 Katoomba, NSW
A full day of painting in Katoomba. The town of Katoomba sits on the edge of a cliff, offering breathtaking views of the craggy Three Sisters rock formation. You will have a chance to walk from Katoomba town centre to the Echo Point lookout to see the Three Sisters and beyond.

DAY 8: Sunday 22 March, 2020 Katoomba, NSW
Tizzana Winery is set in a tranquil valley off the Hawkesbury River. The winery is a National Trust classified sandstone building (1887) and has five acres of grapevines and eight acres of olive groves. We will enjoy a wine tasting, lunch and a day of painting at this beautiful vineyard.

DAY 9: Monday 23 March, 2020 Katoomba, NSW
This morning we will travel to the Jenolan Caves for a morning tour of the Orient Cave. In the afternoon, we will travel to Hartley for a painting session. Step back in time and enjoy the wonders of this quaint village.

DAY 10: Tuesday 24 March, 2020 Katoomba, NSW
Today we travel to Faulconbridge to visit The Norman Lindsay Gallery, the home of the Magic Pudding and displays the work of artist and writer Norman Lindsay (1879-1969) and is run by the National Trust. There will be a painting session in the grounds after our gallery visit.

DAY 11: Wednesday 25 March, 2020 Katoomba, NSW
A full day of painting in Katoomba with Amanda Hyatt. You may like to ride the world’s steepest train down into a valley between the mountains, or take an aerial cable car offering great views (optional).

DAY 12: Thursday 26 March, 2020 Katoomba, NSW
Today we travel to Wentworth Falls for a day of painting. Wentworth Falls is a three-tiered waterfall fed by the Jamison Creek, near the town of Wentworth Falls. Amanda will paint a demonstration and then assist workshop members individually. In the afternoon there will be a final critique session followed by an included farewell dinner.

DAY 13: Friday 27 March, 2020 Departure
This morning workshop members will be transferred to Sydney airport for passengers travelling on flights departing after 1.00pm.
