WEDNESDAY 20 NOVEMBER TO WEDNESDAY 4 DECEMBER 2019

Day 1: Wednesday 20 November, 2019 Sydney
This afternoon we board Celebrity Solstice for our art festival cruise to New Zealand. Meet Greg and David up on deck to enjoy spectacular views as we cruise Sydney Harbour and out through Sydney Heads.

Day 2: Thursday 21 November, 2019 At sea
After breakfast the artists will lead their first painting demonstration on board the majestic Celebrity Solstice. Afterwards, the artists will move among the group assisting members individually. The afternoon is free to explore and enjoy the fantastic facilities and many activities available on the Celebrity Solstice.

Day 3: Friday 22 November, 2019 Melbourne
This morning we arrive in Melbourne, famous for its vibrant atmosphere and being one of the most liveable cities in the world. People from all cultures and backgrounds come to Melbourne to experience all this modern city has to offer. During our sightseeing tour this morning you will see the Royal Exhibition Buildings & Museum, Parliament House and Princess Theatre, St Patrick’s Cathedral and the Fitzroy Gardens, Flinders Street Station, Federation Square and the Queen Victoria Market. In the afternoon there will be a painting session in Melbourne taking in many of the wonderful sights.

Day 4: Saturday 23 November, 2019 At sea
After breakfast the artists will lead a painting demonstration on board the Celebrity Solstice. Afterwards, the artists will move among the group assisting members individually. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore and enjoy the fantastic facilities and many activities available on the Celebrity Solstice.

Day 5: Sunday 24 November, 2019 At sea
A full day of painting aboard the Celebrity Solstice with David Taylor and Greg Allen.

Day 6: Monday 25 November, 2019 Milford/ Doubtful/Dusky Sound
Today we cruise through some of the most spectacular scenery in New Zealand as we visit Milford Sound followed by Doubtful and Dusky sounds. The sound runs 15 kilometres inland from the Tasman Sea and is surrounded by sheer rock faces that rise 1,200 meters or more on either side. Seals, penguins and dolphins frequent the waters and whales can sometimes be seen. The fjords will be a highlight of the cruise, with spectacular scenery and fascinating wildlife. Weather permitting we will meet up on the top deck for photographing and sketching. The rest of the day will be free for you to enjoy the grand views or take part in some of the many activities available aboard the Celebrity Solstice.

Day 7: Tuesday 26 November, 2019 Dunedin
We arrive in the city of Dunedin this morning. Originally founded by Scottish settlers and known as the “Edinburgh of the South”, it now consists of beautifully preserved buildings overlooking parklands. We will visit the historic Jacobean style Olveston House, containing a treasure trove of art and antiques, as we explore this attractive city. A painting session will be held this afternoon, and a valuable critique session will be held late in the afternoon.

Day 8: Wednesday 27 November, 2019 Wellington
This morning we will have a painting session on board the Celebrity Solstice. We arrive in Wellington at 12.30pm and we will have an afternoon sightseeing tour of the main sights of Wellington including the houses of parliament known as “the Beehive”. We visit Mount Victoria, where we have 360 degree views of the city, then travel by cable car to the Botanical Gardens.

Day 9: Thursday 28 November, 2019 Picton
Today we arrive in Picton. The picturesque seaside town of Picton is the South Island base for the ferry service that links the main islands of New Zealand and the heart of the Marlborough Sounds. Built around a very sheltered harbour, the town has an attractive seafront with cafés, restaurants, various types of galleries. There will be time to explore Picton before the artists start their painting session.

Day 10: Friday 29 November, 2019 At sea
Our last day at sea. After breakfast the artists will lead a painting demonstration on board the Celebrity Solstice. Afterwards, the artists will move among the group assisting members individually. Day 11: Saturday 30 November, 2019 Tauranga
We arrive in Tauranga this morning. Tauranga has a thriving commercial and business centre and is a very busy port. Dominating the scene is the harbour and Mount Maunganui. We travel to Rotorua, a small city on the shores of Lake Rotorua, where we explore the geothermal activity of geysers, boiling mud pools and steaming craters. There will be time for photographing and sketching in Rotorua. The ship overnights in Tauranga.

Day 12: Sunday 1 December, 2019 Tauranga
Today we travel to Mount Maunganui for a full day of painting. “The Mount” is the colloquial name for Mount Maunganui, a relaxed beach town with views of an extinct volcano. The artists will start the painting day with a demonstration, followed by assisting workshop members individually.

Day 13: Monday 2 December, 2019 Auckland
This morning we arrive in Auckland, the largest city and commercial centre of New Zealand. After disembarking this morning, we enjoy a city sightseeing tour which takes in the main sights of Auckland, including the Harbour Bridge, spanning the beautiful Waitemata Harbour and the quaint and stylish shopping area of Parnell. In the afternoon we will check into our hotel in Auckland.

Day 14: Tuesday 3 December, 2019 Auckland
A full day of painting in Auckland. In the afternoon there will be a final critique session followed by farewell drinks and dinner to celebrate our time in New Zealand.

Day 15: Wednesday 4 December, 2019 Departure
After breakfast tour members will be transferred to Auckland airport in time to meet flights departing after midday.
