DAY 1 Monday 5 September, 2022 Bendigo, Victoria
Workshop members will be met at Melbourne airport at midday and transferred to the beautiful gold rush town of Bendigo. Bendigo has a rich and prosperous heritage dating back to the days when gold was discovered in the area in the 1850s. Since then, Bendigo has been the second highest producing goldfield in Australia and remains the seventh largest in the world. Tonight the group will meet for welcome drinks and an included dinner.

DAY 2 Tuesday 6 September, 2022 Bendigo, Victoria
This morning Tony will commence his first painting workshop with a demonstration and then assist workshop members individually with their work in the beautiful town of Bendigo. Bendigo’s rich gold history has produced a city of unparalleled opulence and grandeur. Stunning architecture and manicured gardens are all symbolic of Bendigo. Regular critique sessions will be held throughout the tour.

DAY 3 Wednesday 7 September, 2022 Bendigo, Victoria
Today we travel to the township of Maldon, christened ‘The Best Preserved Town in Australia of the Gold Mining Era’ by the National Trust. Cottage gardens, pavements overhung by verandas and old mining structures are the essence of Maldon. Tony will start with a demonstration and then assist workshop members individually.

DAY 4 Thursday 8 September, 2022 Bendigo, Victoria
Today we will enjoy a full day of painting in beautiful Bendigo. There are many subjects to paint including the grand banks, ornate hotels, majestic theatres and the gold-leaf-daubed town hall. In the afternoon we will visit the Bendigo Art Gallery, one of Australia’s oldest and largest regional galleries.

DAY 5 Friday 9 September, 2022 PS Emmylou, Murray River
After breakfast we will travel back in time as we make our way to Echuca. We will enjoy a morning painting session in Echuca before we board the PS Emmylou after lunch. Paddle steamer Emmylou is the world’s only wood fired cruising Paddle steamer and offers alfresco dining and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the river views. Each luxury cabin with ensuite is individually air-conditioned. Our accommodation for the next three nights allows us to delve further into the beauty and pioneering history of the Murray River. After we settle into our cabin we will depart Echuca downriver and enjoy a welcome afternoon tea followed by an included dinner. Tonight, we moor at the famous Perricoota Station. Rich in history, the property was first settled by James Maiden in 1843, and famous for starring in the TV movie “All the River Run” where PS Emmylou was renamed PS Providence.

DAY 6 Saturday 10 September, 2022 PS Emmylou, Murray River
This morning we depart on a half-day excursion traveling 30 minutes to the small town of Barmah. Here you board the MV Kingfisher for your guided Eco Cruise, where you can get up close to Australian nature and wildlife. We then enjoy a traditional Australian picnic lunch riverside. In the afternoon we will have a painting session on the river bank with Tony providing individual help.

DAY 7 Sunday 11 September, 2022 PS Emmylou, Murray River
This morning PS Emmylou departs on a full day of cruising towards the Layfield Lane Mooring. We will paint onboard watching the beautiful scenery of the Murray River pass by. Tony will start with a demonstration and then offer individual tuition. Tonight join your fellow passengers at the riverside grand dining table for our signature Australian BBQ, star lit by the Southern Cross and candles. After dinner enjoy some yarns sitting around the campfire before retiring for the evening.

DAY 8 Monday 12 September, 2022 Corowa, NSW This morning
before breakfast early risers can enjoy a riverside stroll before PS Emmylou then departs for the Port of Echuca where we disembark and travel to the Murray River town of Corowa, birthplace of Federation. We will stop along the way in Yarrawonga for a painting session. Tucked along the mighty Murray River, picturesque border town Yarrawonga has a tranquil lakeside setting and will be a delight to paint.

DAY 9 Tuesday 13 September, 2022 Corowa, NSW This morning
Tony will find a great painting location in Corowa and complete a demonstration. Following this, Tony will assist individual workshop members with their painting. In 1889-1890 Tom Roberts’ famous painting Shearing the Rams was painted at Corowa from sketches and drawings he made in the shearing shed of Brocklesby Station.

DAY 10 Wednesday 14 September, 2022 Corowa, NSW
Today we enjoy a day of painting at All Saints Estate winery. All Saints Estate was established in 1864 and is located on the banks of the Murray River in Wahgunyah. Original owners George Sutherland Smith, and John Banks, arrived from Caithness, Scotland in 1852 and built the famous castle by hand. We will also enjoy an included lunch and a wine tasting.

DAY 11 Thursday 15 September, 2022 Corowa, NSW
Our final day of painting in Corowa, this afternoon there will be a final critique session. Tonight there will be an included dinner to celebrate the wonderful time we have had in Victoria, NSW and along the Murray River.

DAY 12 Friday 16 September, 2022 Departure
This morning we will say farewell and travel to Melbourne airport to meet flights departing after 1:00pm.
